Fact: Home’s with radon are not more difficult to sell to most buyers. Unaddressed radon problems are not obviously attractive or appealing to home buyers, but due to radon’s commonality in homes, it rarely makes it more difficult to sell. If measures have been taken to fix and reduce radon levels in a home, it may even increase the home’s value, or at the very least, keep the seller from being asked to install a radon mitigations system before the buyer moves in.
Many real estate agents claim a resolved radon issue through a permanent solution, most often a radon mitigation system, has a neutral effect on a home’s positive or negative ability to be sold or remain attractive in the market. Just because your home tested high for radon does not mean it won’t sell or sell quickly. Radon myths like these are unfortunate because they often lead sellers to remain inactive.
